The main measures for Christmas: meetings of six people and a curfew at one on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve. In addition, the Government recommends not to celebrate the parade of Kings.
When there was a month left for the Christmas holidays, the Government confirmed the security measures to be followed during this date. These measures are included in the document: "Proposals for public health measures against Covid-19 for the celebration of the Christmas holidays". Each autonomous community has it in its power to make the adjustments and changes it deems appropriate with respect to it. The clear objective of these measures is to “reduce the spread” of the virus and guarantee control of the pandemic. Citizens must be aware that it will be a different Christmas in order to end the virus as soon as possible.
Among the main measures, it is worth highlighting:
- Christmas gatherings must be with a maximum of six people. In principle, they should only be with people living together. In the case of no non-living members, they should not exceed six people. On the other hand, common meetings / celebrations on these dates are also discouraged, such as business dinners, former students ... If held, it should not exceed the limit of six people and always outside.
- Curfew on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve. The idea is to continue with the night confinement during the holidays, not being able to go out on the street at the established times. So after 1 in the morning, being adjusted by each autonomous community, you will not be able to be on the street.
- Only travel when necessary. According to the document that includes these measures, "avoid trips that are not strictly necessary." Due to the high number of trips during these dates, national and international, travel is not recommended. If necessary, the measures imposed at the destination must be taken.
- Return of the students, with the utmost caution. All those students who return home for Christmas should avoid meetings days prior to the trip. A test is also advised.
- Cavalcade of Kings no. The parade is an event with a lot of attendance, so it poses a high risk of transmission. Other activities at this time of year are also suspended, such as Christmas concerts.
- Shopping in advance and in small shops. The Government highlights the purchase in small businesses to avoid crowds. Also make them in advance for this same reason. Shopping centers and traditional Christmas markets must have access control.
- More measures in residences. During these dates, family visits to the centers will be extended, provided that security measures can be followed. In the case of seniors who leave the center, as is usually the case, a test will be performed upon re-entry.
- The "6M" rule. Continue emphasizing that both on these dates, as in our day to day, we must maintain the measures that groups the "6M". Hand washing, meters of physical distance, maximize ventilation, use of a mask, minimize the number of contacts and "stay at home".
