Robotics, AI, custom lenses with 8k or HD vision and more advances! Do we see together the future of Ophthalmology by an expert in the subject?
We invite you to see the interesting presentation at CORPUS, by Dr. José Alberto Muiños, specialist in Ophthalmology and Medical Director at Miranza Clínica Muiños.
Ophthalmology: how it was in '85 and how it is now
We begin with this anecdote with which Dr. Muiños opened his presentation; without a doubt, a sign that new technologies and advances in medicine have not stopped ... nor will they stop. The renowned ophthalmologist told CORPUS:
“I remember in the year 85, when we operated a cataract we had them asleep with general anesthesia: we were doing an operation where we cut the cornea 180 degrees, we took all the cataract and we gave - if we were lucky - 8 points (the normal thing was 12 points).
Then we had the patient one week lying with our eyes closed and we put on those “bottle ass” glasses that they surely remember from their grandparents.
¿What's up today? Nowadays we do it with Local anesthesia; only with drops. We make a 1,7 mm incision. Over there, we enter and prepare the waterfall and put a lens that unfolds inside. Y the patient comes out more or less watching.
We have reached a degree of technology in ophthalmology, which is progressing. And this is achieving, that more and more people demand refractive surgery ”
What can I see in the presentation of Dr. José Alberto Muiños about the future of Ophthalmology?
In this paper at CORPUS, Dr. Muiños tells us what is refractive surgery, what techniques are currently used and especially What does the future of ophthalmology hold in the coming years?
Do not miss it. He will talk to us, among other interesting topics, about "Robotic hands", Artificial Intelligenceof telemedicine and telesurgery, of the multifocal lenses of the future and of the lens customization that are being studied and created in laboratories and that will give us higher quality visual.
Dr. Muiños: "We can see in HD or 8K. What we don't know yet is if our eye will be prepared to tolerate such good vision.".
