To date, more than 91% of the vaccines received have been provided, with a total of 20.000 people already immunized with the two doses.
The Government of Canary Islandscontinues to call on the population to respect the restrictions in force in the Islands. The situation continues to be worrying in Lanzarote and Gran Canaria, so the alert levels will be maintained until Thursday the 11th. One must not let down his guard despite the slight improvements in the records in Tenerife.
Julio Pérez, the spokesman for the regional Executive, confirmed last week that the evolution in Canary Islands is slightly better compared to recent days. Specifically in Tenerife the data on infections reflect a very positive evolution. However, in Lanzarote and Gran Canaria the situation continues to be one of alert since the decline in cases is slower than desirable.
Therefore, Lanzarote will continue until Thursday 11 on alert 4, brown traffic light, and Gran Canaria on alert 3, red traffic light. Tenerife, El Hierro and Fuerteventura will remain at amber traffic light, alert 2. La Palma and La Gomera at alert 1, green traffic light.
To date, 74.000 vaccines have been supplied out of 79.500 received, which represents more than 91% of the total. In addition, more than 20.000 people are already immunized after receiving the second dose. In this sense, Julio Pérez confirmed that vaccination among patients and workers in nursing homes and centers for the disabled is practically completed. On the other hand, 92% of healthcare professionals have already received the first dose.
When the first groups are covered, which is expected to be in a few days, home vaccination of large dependents will begin. To maintain an active vaccination rate and have 70% of the Canarian population vaccinated in summer, 30.000 daily doses are needed.
In this sense, the president, Ángel Víctor Torres, confirms the archipelago's capacity to carry out so many daily doses. The Canarian Health Service team has increased with more than 2000 nurses, trained exclusively in attending to vaccination against Covid. The problem comes from the laboratories and the delay in preparing the doses.
Finally, the regional president believes that Canary Islandshave already passed the peak of the third wave. Confirms that the downward trend in some islands, plus the elderly vaccinated in residences, show a guarantee that no more outbreaks will occur.
