To have a healthy life it is essential to have a healthy diet together with the practice of exercise. But in addition, genetic factors and acquired habits must be taken into account.

Reasons why it is very important to take a test every so often to check that everything is going well. So, how often should I go to a medical review?

Medical review what should you take into account?

Going regularly is the best way to prevent possible diseases and acquired pathologies. Even if you lead a healthy life, genetic factors also influence. There are certain types of cancer and certain diseases in which there is a genetic predisposition that does not exist in others. In addition, there are many aspects that must be controlled and that can be easily reflected in blood tests, such as cholesterol, blood pressure, glucose ... All this can prevent future serious conditions, since there are many diseases that have no symptoms apparently and that can become dangerous.

In general, the OMS (World Health Organization) recommends a checkup every four years before completing the 40, every two until the 60, and one a year after this age. Even so, we must take into account the individual situation of each person, especially when they have or have had risky habits such as smoking, drinking alcohol habitually and overeating.

In the adult population, medical examinations aim to perform an early detection of cardiovascular and tumor pathologies. For example, a 35% of the population is hypertensive above the 50 years and do not know it. One out of every five patients can suffer from benign colon polyps, and altered cholesterol blood levels are increasingly detected and should be treated with diet and medication. Because of all this, it is evident that the medical review is useful to detect the appearance of diseases that have not yet produced symptoms or prevent the appearance of some.

In the case of women, the most frequent revision is performed from an early age, and it is gynecological. This review usually includes:

-Cytology to prevent cervical cancer. It is the most used technique to detect early cervical cancer and precancerous lesions. It is considered a fundamental screening test to reduce the incidence and mortality of this type of cancer, whose impact has greatly diminished since its popularization.

-Echography to analyze the inside of the uterus and the functioning of the reproductive system.

-Mammography. As age advances it is recommended to start with mammography, in order to diagnose early breast cancer. It is the most effective test to diagnose early breast cancer, since it is able to detect lesions long before they can be discovered by the same or by the doctor

-And from 65 years, it is convenient check bone status by bone densitometry, especially when you have a history, to prevent and treat osteoporosis before a fracture occurs.

In addition, experts recommend taking into account other checks or revisions, such as the one view and dental, once a year.
