SERVICES
Refractive surgery
The most advanced technology to correct graduation defects (myopia, farshigtednessand astigmatism) and eliminate the dependence on glasses and contact lenses.
Ocular aesthetic surgery (oculoplasty)
In Vithas Eurocanarias Ophthalmological Institute we have the best professionals and the most advanced technology to solve, through outpatient surgery and with local anesthesia: eyelid problems, spots, wrinkles or scars.
Presbyopia
Presbyopia is the difficulty to see up close that we all suffer from the 40-45 years and that is increasing as the years progress. Popularly it is called tired sight.
In Vithas Eurocanarias Ophthalmological Institute we have all the options to treat presbyopia or eyestrain, thanks to the use of the latest technological advances.
Cataract
Cataracts is one of the most frequent pathologies of the human being. But its solution is also one of the safest in Medicine. In Vithas Eurocanarias Ophthalmological Institute we are specialists and referents in the latest and most advanced techniques of cataract surgery, as well as in the new generations of intraocular lenses.
Recently Vithas Eurocanarias Ophthalmological Institute has incorporated the so-called Intelligent Operating Room for cataract surgery, the first one that exists in Canary Islands. A powerful technological advance that allows personalizing cataract surgery for each patient with a planning and guidance team, as well as interacting with the different existing equipment so that the visual results are the most satisfactory.
Keratoconus
Vithas Eurocanarias Ophthalmological Institute has been a pioneer in the design, use and development of modern techniques for the treatment of keratoconus: intracorneal rings and cross-linking.
Children's ophthalmology
The ophthalmological care of children is important because the first years of life are fundamental for the development of vision.
Any ocular anomaly not diagnosed early can stop the development of vision and leave defects that will persist throughout life.
Retinal detachment
Retinal detachment is an eye disease that occurs by spontaneous separation of the neurosensory retina (inner layer of the retina) from the pigmentary epithelium (outer layer).
When this separation occurs, fluid accumulates in the space formed between the two layers, and the detached retina can not function or be adequately nourished.
If left untreated, retinal detachment ends up causing blindness.
Glaucoma
Glaucoma is an increase in eye pressure that causes damage to the optic nerve, which results in alterations in the visual field. In most cases this alteration is gradual and painless so many patients do not perceive it until it is permanent and irreversible.
It affects more than one 3% of the population and is, together with diabetes, the main preventable cause of blindness in Spain. It mainly affects people older than 40 years and those with a family history of glaucoma.
Cornea transplant
Corneal transplantation (also known as keratoplasty) is indicated when vision has decreased to a certain degree and is irreversible.
For this, the diseased cornea is removed by microsurgery, and replaced by another cornea from a donor that is sutured to the recipient.
It is the organ transplant with a higher success rate, higher than the 90%.
Lacrimal pathways
Treatment of effective pathologies related to lacrimal pathways, both in adults and children.
