Operation and organization of the 1-1-2 Emergency and Security Coordination Center of the Canary Islands
WHAT IS THE 1-1-2?
El Emergency and Security Coordination Center (CECOES) of the Government of Canary Islands, under the Ministry of Presidency, Justice and Security is a public service that responds to all emergency calls that occur on the islands. Its operation is entrusted to the public company Gestión de Servicios para la Salud y Seguridad en Canarias (GSC).
The 1-1-2 of Canary Islands It is much more than a phone number. It is a coordinating center from which the resources that exist in the Archipelago in the field of emergencies are managed and that allows any alert, whether sanitary, security, rescue, extinction or rescue, can be managed in a comprehensive manner .
With the creation of this service, the 30 of May of 1998, the Archipelago is integrated into the European System of Emergency and Attention, thus complying with the European Union Decision 396 / 1991, which recommended the Member States the start-up of a single telephone number, the 1-1-2, to access all the emergency services of each of the EU countries.
