The family always together

On many occasions, we meet in a situation very common family, the care of an elderly person. We do not know if the best solution is that we ourselves let's take care of them, o BEST to attend and request external help. When our elders are in full physical and psychic faculties we should not underestimate any help they want to provide us.

How will we act?

  • Must support and do keep doing the daily routines, as well as help with domestic chores.
  • If we observe that they start to get lazy to leave home our duty is encourage them to perform entertainment and leisure, preferably away from home to help create an obligation with which they feel entertained in the day to day.
  • If our elders live with us and we have children, in their case grandchildren, almost certainly, that their greatest wish and satisfaction is to propose to them to entertain themselves when they decide.

"Grandparents are very important in our lives, they mark our childhood and they are loaded with unforgettable memories."

For our elders the that we involve them in tasks tan everyday how the care of our children will turn out experiences full of emotions and memories They will fill you with joy and make you feel really useful and happy.

Caring for Family Health

Another aspect that we should consider and have very present is a good diet and a balanced diet to avoid having vitamin deficiencies. If our grandparents consume some type of medication, control of it will also be very important. To supervise the good taking or dosage always will allow us to remain calmer since the correct use of prescription medications will have a positive impact on the health of our elders.

Keep Privacy

We have to remember that, like us, we enjoy privacy they will also benefit from preserving their habits and living space to maintain an optimal and comprehensive mood.

Do we debate or discuss?

On many occasions, too, we will collide in opinions at the time of living together due to the different currents of thought of each of our generations, culture, tradition, etc. If this situation is observed that it could provoke us daily confrontations we should avoid conversations that make us reach this limit. If they occur sporadically, it may even be beneficial for all of us since we will unconsciously cause family debates and we can contrast opinions and be able to listen and make our children learn the different visions that can result from a single theme.

Exercising the Mind

So that our people can exercise the mind routinely and not fall into a monotony of mental vagrancy we can go to multiple cognitive exercises, games, reading, painting, ... adapting the multiple options that exist to exercise this depending on the tastes or preferences of our grandparents.

Listening is not the same as hearing

Almost certainly we also observe situations in which they want be listened or you want to talk about memories, personal situations, concerns, ... We should always always look for situations that we favor and sit down or go for a walk to chat in a friendly and trustworthy environment that makes them feel fully integrated into our family.

Not Common Symptoms

If we begin to detect symptoms that we do not consider normal in attitudes, behaviors, habits, we will consider the concern of going with our loved one to a specialized assessment to rule out or not that our family member may be suffering from an initial symptom of Alzheimer's or degenerative mental illness. Whenever we are attentive we can avoid and put solutions to problems that will be more complicated to solve once the diagnosis is advanced.
