When we are on the beach there are three large risk groups that can cause setbacks to arise:

  1. From the moment we got out of the car and entered the arena we found ourselves under the radiation of the Sun.

  2. The risks of entering the Water.

  3. The recreational activities that usually occur when we are on the beach.

What are the main risks of the sun?

In many cases, the risk of sunburn is not taken into account, but in the long run it can lead to diseases as feared as skin cancer or melanoma. In addition, exposure to the sun can cause sunstroke, heat stroke and possible fainting or fainting.

What injuries can we suffer in the water?

In the water the risk changes we can have risks of drowning, since in contact with the tides and currents we can get great scares, even if we are very experienced. On the other hand, we are in contact with animals that can cause us injuries, for example, jellyfish stings, especially in Canary Islands.

The risks of leisure activities on the beach

On the beach there are ideal conditions to carry out a series of leisure activities that can also involve risks to our health, such as sports activities. We usually run or play beach volleyball and ankles in these situations and, on a surface as irregular as sand, may suffer strains and injuries.

Also the beach seems to call to drink some alcohol, for being relaxed and in these climatologically favorable conditions, either by way of beer or at night parties. Care must be taken because in these situations of humidity and heat, alcohol can predispose to internal dehydration since its effects are more evident.

Finally, on the beach you are also invited to barbecues. We have to be especially careful because burns can occur when coming directly in contact with the coal and cuts when barefoot in the sand.

How to avoid injuries on the beach?

The easiest way to prevent all of these injuries is to use common sense. On the subject of the sun, we know that from 12:00 to 16:00 approximately is when the sun is highest and when the rays affect us most directly, so we have to avoid exposing ourselves to the sun as much as possible in these hours. In addition, sun protection is important, it is recommended that 30 minutes before we go to the beach we spray ourselves with sun protection and that every two hours we apply a replacement of the lotion, even every time we get out of the water.

It is also important to be well hydrated, drink plenty of water because on the beach we do not realize it but the heat is causing us to dry out inside, our brain is not conscious and we can suffer episodes of dizziness and even loss of consciousness. A good healthy and also energetically nutritional option is to take some piece of fruit that also has a high water content.

If we talk about water, it is very important that we do not lose respect for water on the one hand because even the most experienced people may suffer undesirable experiences, but above all we must be very careful with the little ones, because, even if they know how to swim, in question of seconds a current or an unexpected tide or a mistake can cause us to suffer a drowning, which unfortunately often has quite serious consequences.
