Recovery time after Lasik surgery depends on your pre-surgery refraction and your body's response. Everyone is different, but the eyes should heal quickly. A sick leave of between 4 to 7 days is recommended, everything will depend on the activity carried out by the patient.
Many patients return to their daily activities the day after the intervention. This of course depends on what the routine consists of, however you should notice a difference in your eyesight almost immediately. For a speedy recovery, be sure to actively listen to your doctor's recommendations and ask questions if you're unsure about something.
Some of the common complications of Lasik surgery are:
- dry eye syndrome
- Sensitivity to light.
- Problems with night vision, such as halos and glare.
- Vision distortion, including blurred vision and diplopia (double vision).
- An itchy feeling in the eye.
- Astigmatism.
To ensure that the recovery is as quick and comfortable as possible, it is recommended that you:
- Use the eye protector for the time recommended by the specialist.
- Avoid applying pressure to the eyes for four days after surgery.
- Avoid swimming for a week after surgery.
- Avoid high-impact activities (eg, contact sports) for at least two weeks after surgery.
