Laser hair removal is something that has been around for many years, there are different types of lasers to treat different areas.

Before undergoing a procedure, most patients want to know what to expect, how much downtime they should have, if they can have the treatment during the summer, etc. Therefore, from CanaryDoctor We answer the most common questions that Canarian patients ask about laser hair removalr:

Is laser hair removal worth it?

Absolutely: YES! Anyone who has a beauty routine that includes regular shaving would probably agree. Having smooth, hair-free skin without the need for maintenance is a dream come true… right?

What can I expect from laser hair removal?:

With laser hair removal you can achieve smooth, hair-free skin, without the need for maintenance. You'll experience effortlessly smooth skin with no stubble, no 5 o'clock shadow, and no stinging or ingrown hairs. After laser hair removal, you can get rid of razor burn for good and still have silky-smooth legs, a beard-free face, or bare underarms without the maintenance of shaving.

Does laser hair removal hurt?:

The most frequently asked question about laser hair removal is usually whether or not the procedure hurts. The traditional method of laser hair removal has been described as a stinging sensation and is compared to the snapping of a rubber band on the skin. Most of the centers we work with have virtually painless laser hair removal equipment.

Can I have laser hair removal anywhere on my body?

Yes! You can have laser hair removal treatments on any area of the body that grows hair.

Who can do laser hair removal?:

Laser hair removal can remove unwanted hair from any part of the body regardless of age, gender or skin type. From light to dark hair colors, and fine to thick follicles, anyone is a candidate for laser hair removal treatment.

Is laser hair removal safe?

Hair removal treatments are among the safest and most non-invasive approaches to removing unwanted hair growth. Hair removal equipment provides a gentle experience with no negative long-term side effects.

Will I need multiple laser treatments?

The number of laser treatments you'll need depends on the color and texture of your hair, as well as the speed of your growth cycle. Most patients will require 6-8 laser hair removal treatments to complete the series.

Laser hair removal treatments can only remove hair while it is actively growing and all hair follicles in our body grow at different rates. Multiple treatments are required for us to remove previously unaffected hair follicles.

Is laser hair removal permanent?

Once you have completed all of your laser treatments, you can expect to experience hair-free periods for several years. And up to 80% of that hair in the treated area will never grow back.

If you experience any hair growth after you've completed your treatments, it will grow back much thinner and lighter after a year or so. In this case, a maintenance session may be necessary to further neutralize the root so that hair does not grow.

How long does a laser hair removal appointment last?

The appointment may vary in time depending on the location of the treatment:

  • 10 – 15 minutes: Armpits, face and bikini area.
  • 30 – 45 minutes: Full arms, half legs and chest.
  • 1 to 1,5 hours: full legs, full back and other large areas of the body.

When will I see the results of my laser hair removal treatments?

Immediately after each appointment, you will continue to see hair in the treated area. The hair should not be extracted from the skin during the procedure, it should only be removed with a blade to be able to neutralize it and remove it permanently from the root. Your body will then naturally shed the dead hair in a short period of time.

Within a day or two after laser hair removal treatment, you will begin to see hair fall out naturally. It is important that you do not try to speed up this shedding process and give your body time to lose hair naturally over the next few days.

How is the recovery from laser hair removal?

In general, laser hair removal does not require any downtime. Most patients return to their daily activities immediately after treatment, even if they experience mild side effects.

Most side effects are temporary and range from mild swelling, redness, and mild irritation. Most patients report that these side effects are very short-lived and manageable with a cold compress. Excessive exposure to the sun should be avoided and the area should not be scratched or exfoliated.

Can I go to the beach after laser hair removal?

The most advisable thing is to wait 7 days after the treatment and under no circumstances can the treatment be done with the area burned by the sun.
