What is the medical examination for the driver's license?
The medical examination is done in an accredited Recognition Center, as we are. It is a necessary recognition and the most frequent in a center of these characteristics.
In relation to the driver's license, medical and psychotechnical examinations are necessary for its expedition, recovery (when all points have been lost), renewal and exchange (of community, non-community, military-to-civil permits).
In the case of renewal, we take care of everything: We make the photo, we pay the Traffic fees and the IGIC, in such a way that Traffic directly sends the pass to your home in a few 15 to 45 days. At the end of the recognition the DGT generates a provisional driving license that we give you and whose validity is 3 months
In all cases it is essential to observe the following points:
- If you are chronically ill, you must bring us the report from your treating doctor that indicates that you have no impediments to driving.
- You have to go with your glasses or contact lenses to pass the visual acuity test.
- If you wear hearing aids you also have to come with them on.
- It is necessary to bring a list with the medications you are taking.
Both the psychotechnical tests (which must be done by a professional of Psychology) and the medical tests are carried out with approved equipment.
The medical and psychometric recognition must not be taken or made as a mere procedure, it is a clinical act in which their aptitude to drive is assessed to guarantee their safety and that of other people.
A medical certificate of aptitude is not a gift, try to go to centers that value and perform correctly the work of a Physician and a Psychologist. I distrust the bargains and offers, remember that it is about your health and you must value it correctly.
What adaptations are there?
If you have a medical problem, do not hesitate to contact us, there are many adaptations for your car and license that could solve your difficulty to obtain the permit:
- Hearing deficits.
- Decreased visual acuity
- Reduced mobility

How often do you have to do it?
The validity of the driver's license, in the case of non-professionals is normally 10 years (the professionals is 5 years) but it can be reduced depending on the age. At 65 years it is reduced to 5 years (to 3 years in the professionals) and then the doctors who do the recognition have the power to limit it according to the pathological that the person has. For example, people operated on for cataracts with lens replacement are reduced to 3 years.
When do they have to perform a medical examination to drive the elderly?
As the years go by, age decreases. At 90 years the annual review should be done if the doctor considers that the person has the physical conditions. The doctor's assessment is important. There may be people from 90 years who can not carry the ID and 90 people who are great years but the renewal would be reduced.
