Last weekend, mass vaccinations continued in the Islands. 68% of the first group is already vaccinated, with a total of almost 12.000 vaccines. Still, the Archipelago needs to increase the rate of vaccination.

On one hand, Health considers satisfactory the percentage of immunized that Canary Islandscurrently present. On the other hand, the Corporate of the Archipelago sees priority speeding up the number of vaccinations to dismiss the virus forever.

While the vaccines of the first group continue, until trying to reach 100%, on Monday the vaccination of the health personnel in charge of caring for COVID-19 begins. According to the National Vaccination Strategy of Spain, this sector forms group II established for the priority order of the population to be vaccinated.

Therefore, the vaccination process begins to run in parallel. The residents and staff of the social health centers (Group I) finish receiving the last doses destined. And from
today begins the vaccination of health professionals (Group II) who work on the front line of care for COVID-19. Both in Primary Care and in Hospital.

According to the plan established by Canary IslandsHealth Service,
the estimated date to end the vaccination with Group I is next Thursday. In Lanzarote, La Palma and Fuerteventura, they have already finished vaccinating the group of social and health centers. Therefore, they have already started vaccinating Group II.

To give greater security to the SCS Vaccination Plan, nursing professionals have been training since December. A total of 655 nurses have been trained in the specificities of the administration of new vaccines.

Of this total, 545 professionals are responsible for Primary Care, who will also train their health center teams. The rest of the nursing professionals are undergoing Specialized and Hospital Care vaccination.

Health considers that once the vaccination is finished by the different health centers, it will go even faster. This is believed since it will be more affective to cite the population of the following groups, in their Health Centers and CAE.
