On the occasion of the "International Women's Day", the Official College of Psychology of Santa Cruz de Tenerife has shown that women suffer a greater deterioration in mental health due to the impact of the pandemic.
As a consequence of the burdens derived from gender roles (such as care, emotional support ...) and the work environment, several scientific studies have determined that women suffer further deterioration of their mental health in the context of the pandemic. The result is a higher level of stress along with anxiety disorders and depression.

On the other hand, psychologists also point out that restrictions have posed a serious danger to women's rights. These have been totally fragile despite having been conquered with great effort. Along these lines, women affected by gender violence have had to live in “war camps” called homes.
Psychologists also point out that in times of crisis when public services disappear, it is women who renounce their professional life partially or totally. They accept more precarious and lower paid jobs, to dedicate to caring for children and / or dependents.
It is essential that administrations incorporate a gender perspective to correct the serious results that the pandemic has left on women, as stated by the General Council of Psychology.
The manifesto concludes that The participation of women in this process is a priority. Thus, what has been experienced in the pandemic does not remain as a setback in women's rights, but a real change towards equality.
